With new cutting-edge display technologies across the luxury travel terminal, the thrills begin before you even set foot onboard the ship this summer season.
GALVESTON, TX and PURCHASE, NY – June 5, 2023 – Royal Caribbean’s newest 161,300 square foot cruise terminal in the heart of bustling vacation destination Galveston, Texas, was built to accommodate the biggest cruise ships in the world, including the newest Oasis-class and Icon-Class ships such as Allure of Seas and Harmony of the Seas. The state-of-the-art new building delivers a reimagined getaway launching point for excited travelers this summer and one of the most technologically advanced, thanks in part to a partnership between Royal Caribbean and experience design and execution company ANC.
As the first LEED Zero Energy facility in the world, generating 100% of the energy it needs through onsite solar panels, the terminal thoughtfully combines eco-friendly solar power with cutting-edge technologies. From mobile check-in and facial recognition that expedite guest arrival to ANC’s large-format digital media displays and facility-wide LCD PIDs (passenger information displays). "This new cruise terminal is a gamechanger for the port and the region," said Rodger Rees, Port Director, Port of Galveston.
Complimenting the bright modern architectural design, vivid LED display technologies are woven throughout the journey of cruise-goers by ANC’s expert installation team. Immediately when you enter the terminal, travelers are greeted by two (2) towering high-resolution 2.6mm LED Lobby Displays that are 30 feet high by 20 feet wide, primarily featuring beautiful video interstitials teasing the colorful destinations and fun to come onboard for the passengers.
VIPs with Royal Caribbean elite memberships are admitted into an exclusive wing of the new terminal that features added amenities, including additional impactful displays. First, a 12 feet high by 12 feet wide high-resolution 2.6mm LED greets VIPs in the lobby, and something a little more unexpected, an ultra-fine-pitch 1.5 mm floor-to-ceiling LED Walkway Archway offers a glimpse under the seas as you head to the final boarding area before embarking on your cruise. ANC also integrated audio technology throughout the terminal to complete the immersive experience.
“We continue to see the importance of elegantly integrated digital media canvases that deliver energizing visuals as well as important information and messaging across premier transit hubs, hospitality, and vacation destinations,” said Jerry Cifarelli Jr, ANC CEO. “We are excited to begin this partnership with Royal Caribbean as they deliver an unparalleled modern experience for cruise-goers.”
The level of detail offered in all the showcased technology will provide visitors with engaging, bright, entertaining visuals. However, every display within the terminal is equipped with programming by ANC’s LiveSync content management system to offer ANC’s partners with maximum client-preferred content flexibility. Whether it is 24/7 content scheduling or a touch-of-a-button takeover, LiveSync drives the content across all the technologies.
The Galveston Terminal begins a multi-year partnership with ANC and Royal Caribbean in providing the LED video displays, display control system technologies, and onscreen luxury graphics package designed in collaboration with ANC Studios’ designers, ensuring that the digital media delivers dynamic visuals alongside exclusive Royal Caribbean content and important travel information.
