ANC Design: Wells Fargo Center

OBJECTIVE

The Philadelphia Wells Fargo Center serves as the home to some of the most passionate fans in the nation. Upon approaching venue renovations and display system upgrades, Comcast Spectacor understood they needed to go as big as possible within the existing structure, engaging long-time venue solutions partners, ANC.

SOLUTION

Through a collaborative process including the Wells Fargo Center and TAIT, ANC designed and engineered a first-of-its-kind center-hung display experience with kinetic technology that could be compressed to nest in the ceiling of the arena and expanded for full showtime impact.  The  patented Kinetic  4K  system  features  an unprecedented ability to transform and  be  configured  in  a  variety  of  formats  to best highlight the action below.

Over many phases, ANC has continued to develop Well Fargo Center into one of the most immersive and technologically advanced venues in the country. Beyond the bowl, ANC outfitted over 800 LCDs and 60 LED displays for the venue including in-bowl fascia, immersive LED concourses, IPTV integration, exterior LED displays, highway-facing LED billboards, and team store technology. With more than 26,400 square feet of LED technology, the Wells Fargo Center presents a fully immersive fan experience.

“Comcast Spectacor is proud to highlight the next phase of the Wells Fargo Center’s transformation with the first Kinetic 4K center-hung ever to be installed in a professional sports venue. Together with technology partners like ANC and Comcast, the Wells Fargo Center continues to innovate and further our commitment to be the most technologically advanced arena in the world.”

The world’s first-ever 4K kinetic center-hung entertainment system (U.S.Patent No. D928,876: Multi-Directional Display) includes two massive crown trusses designed to create a captivating experience with multi-directional movement for more game-day action and the host of other entertainment events hosted at the venue.

The innovation expands throughout the venue to activate spaces across the suites, lounges, concourses, and even the exteriors. Following the discovery and design innovation phase, ANC worked with the Wells Fargo Center to complete the installation of the technology and software control room.
